The age-old debate on whether we should introduce children to fairy tales continues to spark discussions and varying opinions. We all have our reasons, and the decision often depends on the child's age, developmental stage, and the nature of the story. As a lover of stories, I believe in sharing them with my children, for these narratives hold a unique place in a child's journey. However, today, I want to spotlight a particular aspect of storytelling that I find truly enchanting – songs inspired by fairy tales. These melodic creations are not only basic but also incredibly powerful, teaching children the sequence of events while emphasizing the joy of a happy ending.

In this song we will practice counting down from 4 to 0, while expressing sadness for each  melted snowman, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh poor them!

This song can be used at the beginning of your daily routine, or when you get some new children in your classroom, but mostly at the beginning of the school year when you might not know your children well and this is a way of practicing learning their names. After singing it for several years, I realised that it is a great way of developing self esteem for younger children, improving their communication skills and confidence when speaking in public.

It's truly heartwarming to witness children under 18 months old being captivated by the song as they mimic the tongue movements, sticking out their little tongues and touching them with their hands - a precious sight!
