Hello my friends!

This song can be used at the beginning of your daily routine, or when you get some new children in your classroom, but mostly at the beginning of the school year when you might not know your children well and this is a way of practicing learning their names. After singing it for several years, I realised that it is a great way of developing self esteem for younger children, improving their communication skills and confidence when speaking in public.

As long as your child starts speaking his first words, you can sing this song at the beginning of  your circle time, as it helps children to become more self aware of themselves and the items they are wearing on a specific day, making them feel special.

I see a girl with a red dress on
A red dress on, a red dress on
I see a girl with a red dress on
what's your name?

(Wait for child to respond, or other children to reply if that girl is too shy or not speaking yet, or you can say her name 'oh, it's Julia! Julia has a red dress on today!'

I see a boy with black shoes on
With black shoes on, with black shoes on
I see a boy with black shoes on
What's your name?

(Wait for reply) and so on.

Have fun!

Bella
