The perfect song when  you go  on a holiday in the car and the children start to become bored ot whinging for different reasons, It also works in the long hours of waiting in the airport.

When it comes to transitions, it may be difficult to gather all the children together to: sit on the carpet, go for lunch, change the classroom, etc. It is easier if you have a transition song that they like and they join in following the instructions. After you have all of them sitting down at the established point (carpet, chairs, etc...) you can move to another period of your lesson/routine.

This song teaches the children subtraction. Every time a snowman melts, but it is actually mentioned by that 'shhh' which is meant to bring attention to the fact that they were 5 and some of them melted. one by one.

A fascinating fact for a young child is to find out that there are lots of other children in this world, some like him, some very different from himself, but we are all friends and all unique.

This song can be used at the beginning of your daily routine, or when you get some new children in your classroom, but mostly at the beginning of the school year when you might not know your children well and this is a way of practicing learning their names. After singing it for several years, I realised that it is a great way of developing self esteem for younger children, improving their communication skills and confidence when speaking in public.
